The Belgian research station on Antarctica has been running without additional heating since it was built in 2009.  A good level of insulation and air-tightness keep the cold out and body heat of the residents plus the energy off the computing equipment are sufficient to keep the station warm.

If it is possible to achieve such a result under these extreme conditions how come we are still dealing with such a poor housing stock and about 20% of UK residents in fuel poverty.  Check out the link below for more information on this fantastic low energy building.
