A Guardian report has declared that 10% of the UK population are suffering from fuel poverty, so having to decide whether to keep warm or buy sufficient food. The figure is doubled In the privately rented sector at 20% of residents.
This is a terrible result in this age, when there are plenty of improvements available from cheap draught proofing measures, better loft insulation, via more efficient boilers, windows with a higher insulation value to solid wall insulation, etc.
The missing of an appropriate Government sponsored scheme with it’s vocal and financial backing is the main reason for this in my opinion, so lets hope the present Government will draw on the recently published report ‘Each Home Matters’ https://www.smart-energy-services.co.uk/home-matters-report-green-deal-ii/ and publish a new program soon.
